Low-emission binders for foundries with PUROLiT

Reducing emissions in foundries is a key objective in the development of PUROLiT binder systems. For modern foundry binders, low-emission process behaviour is a decisive factor for the environment, occupational safety and process stability. Emissions measurements during mould and core production already show that PUROLiT offers significant advantages over conventional phenolic resin binders. This is based on the specifically adapted chemical composition of this low-emission binder, which is designed to achieve a noticeable reduction in emissions in foundries.
On this basis, Bindur supports foundries in identifying their individual optimisation potential and specifically reducing emissions in the existing production process with modern foundry binders.

Proven reduction in emissions during the moulding and casting process

The processing and storage of PUROLiT-bonded moulds and cores eliminates emissions of VOCs such as formaldehyde.
The emission benefits are also retained when casting PUROLiT-bonded moulding materials with cast iron, steel or aluminium. Gas chromatographic analyses show a significantly reduced BTEX, phenol and other aromatic content in the emission profile compared to conventional furan or phenolic resin binders.
This proves that PUROLiT is a low-emission binder for foundries. In order to further reduce emissions in foundries, Bindur relies on its own research and development department and modern analysis methods to continuously optimise emission behaviour.

FAQ:

What does ‘low-emission’ mean in relation to foundry binders?
Low-emission means that significantly fewer pollutants are released into the air during the production of moulds and cores and also during the casting process itself. This applies, for example, to volatile organic compounds or other substances that can cause odours and pollution. In short, lower emissions mean cleaner air and more pleasant working conditions.
Why are emissions so important in foundries?

Because they directly affect everyday working life. High emissions pollute the air, affect employees and also harm the environment. Reducing emissions not only improves the working environment in production, but also makes it easier to comply with environmental and occupational health and safety regulations.

How does PUROLiT help to reduce emissions?
PUROLiT is designed in such a way that fewer pollutants are released during processing than with many conventional binders. Measurements show that, for example, fewer VOCs and other problematic substances are produced. This makes the entire process, from mould production to casting, noticeably cleaner.
How does Bindur ensure that this remains the case in the future?
Bindur is continuously working on the further development of its binder systems. With its own laboratories and modern analysis methods, emissions are regularly tested and further optimised. This ensures that the systems will continue to meet practical and environmental requirements in the future.
How does this benefit me in daily operations?
Above all, it means better air quality in the core and moulding shop, creating a more pleasant working environment for the team. At the same time, emissions leaving the foundry can be reduced without compromising on safe and stable processes.
